The 2023 Slam Dunk contest is scheduled for Saturday, Feb. 18 at approximately 10 pm ET. It will be the third event in the NBA All-Star Saturday lineup, taking place after the Skills Challenge and 3-Point contest. Below, we’ll break down the odds and make our Slam Dunk Contest predictions for the 2023 NBA All-Star Weekend in Salt Lake City, Utah.

Slam Dunk Contest Predictions
It’s crazy how much the odds have moved in less than a day. Here were the numbers posted by DraftKings on Thursday:
- Sims: +170
- Martin: +210
- McClung: +250
- Murphy III: +320
Compare that with Friday’s odds above. McClung jumped dramatically while Sims fell. Murphy is still the longshot.
Mac McClung To Win Dunk Contest (+125)
As mentioned above, McClung was +250 on Thursday and his odds moved to +125 in less than a day. That’s probably not a big enough move.
McClung is the first G League player to participate in the Dunk Contest. You didn’t really think they would bring up any G Leaguer to showcase alongside the NBA’s up-and-coming talent, right? McClung is special. Check out the clip below. He’s a natural dunker who has been working on two dunks that have never been featured in the Dunk Contest!
Mac McClung said he has at least 2 dunks that have never been done in the NBA dunk contest!

To be completely honest, I like taking McClung as long as the odds are better than +100. Grabbing this at +125 at DraftKings is perfect, as offshore sportsbooks have McClung juiced all the way up to -180. Think about that for a second.
The guy has everything going in his favor. He’s only 6’2″ — so his dunks look more impressive than the taller participants. Also, McClung has more to prove than his NBA counterparts while coming from the G League. The underdog story should captivate the crowd (and the judges).
