There are essentially two reasons that I’m taking the odds with Kansas City. I prefer Patrick Mahomes and Andy Reid to Brock Purdy and Kyle Shanahan.
I’m not nearly as high on Purdy as virtually anyone else. He looked atrocious against Green Bay before turning the ball over against Detroit. There is always a point in the Super Bowl where the quarterback has to take the game over, and I much prefer Mahomes, who’s consistently done that, over Purdy.
I truly believe that Shanahan could be the best offensive mind in the NFL. That’s a very real possibility. He’s also consistently shown that he isn’t a good in-game decision-maker. I much prefer Reid in this type of situation.
Overall, I believe San Francisco has the better roster. I can’t overlook the odds and massive advantages Kansas City has at two of the most important spots in this type of game.
