Best NBA Summer League Bets Today – Sunday, July 20
We’re back for today’s NBA Summer League action at Underdog Fantasy.
KJ Simpson Higher Than 27.5 PRA
I debated Simpson or Kon Knueppel for quite some time here. Ultimately, I landed on the former, who consistently plays with the ball in his hands. He’s averaging 17.0 points, 5.2 rebounds, and 5.8 assists in 28.2 minutes per game in the Summer League.
Simpson boasts 20+ point upside on any given night. He can also add double-digit rebounds or assists if his teammates are making shots.
Simpson only played 25 minutes in a blowout win over the Oklahoma City Thunder in Charlotte’s first playoff game. He could see 30+ minutes in this game, as he saw 32 in a must-win to make the playoffs.
Simpson is the focal point of this team, and they should win or lose with the ball in his hands.
Where to Play: KJ Simpson higher than 27.5 PRA | 1.83x at Underdog
Isaac Jones Higher Than 21.5 PRA
This might seem like an overreaction to Jones’ first playoff game, where he scored 36 points with 6 rebounds and 2 assists. Truthfully, it isn’t. I’m attacking the matchup against the Charlotte Hornets, who have struggled against power forwards throughout the Summer League.
Cody Williams recorded 25 PRA in 26.5 minutes against them in their first game. Dominick Barlow posted 30 PRA in 30 minutes, while Keve Aluma added 9 PRA in 11 minutes off the bench. Even while dominating the Dallas Mavericks, Matt Cross, Obinna Anochili, and Jordan Hall combined for 31 PRA in 43 minutes. Carter Bryant posted 24 PRA in 22.5 minutes. They finally slowed down Malevy Leons yesterday, allowing 13 PRA in 20 minutes.
Granted, some of these players split time between positions, but they all saw time at power forward. Jones played 29.5 minutes yesterday, and he’ll be locked into big minutes once again tonight.
Charlotte should key in on Devin Carter and Nique Clifford, leaving Jones with a few easy looks at the rim. He makes an outstanding option with double-double potential.
