Jalen Philpot Higher Than 57.5 Receiving Yards
Philpot has quickly developed chemistry with new quarterback Vernon Adams Jr., drawing 13 targets from the veteran signal-caller through the first two games of the season. The duo got off to a bit of a sluggish start in Week 1, as Phipot brought in just two of his five targets. However, another week of practice and more game reps clearly paid off in Week 2.
Philpot secured six of eight targets for 117 yards in a win over the Argonauts, a performance much more indicative of the caliber of play the Canadian wideout put on film last season. Philpot broke out for a 66-659-3 line on 85 targets in 2024, and he now has a more talented quarterback at his disposal in the prolific Adams.
Additionally, Philpot will be taking the field without veteran teammate Reggie Begelton, who’s hit the six-game injured list with a knee injury. Begelton had drawn eight targets through two games, and Philpot could therefore be in line for at least an extra couple of looks from Adams.
If that additional opportunity does materialize, it’s worth noting it’ll also come against a Redblacks defense that’s allowed 310.5 passing yards per contest and a 72.4% completion rate through the first two weeks. Philpot also was utilized in a bit more of a downfield role in Week 2 than last season, which could be a direct result of Adams’ more aggressive style of play.

Matthew Peterson Higher Than 0.5 Rushing + Receiving TDs
Blue Bombers lead back Brady Oliveira has been ruled out for Saturday night’s rematch with the Lions due to the shoulder injury that knocked him out of Winnipeg’s Week 2 win. Therefore, Peterson, who was brilliant in his teammate’s stead against this same Lions defense, will have a chance to serve as the Bombers’ lead back alongside a talented complementary option in rookie Quinton Cooley.
Cooley was an explosive runner during his college days at Liberty and also put together an impressive preseason, but he’ll be making his CFL debut and stands just 5-foot-7. Meanwhile, Peterson is a bit stouter and already proved himself with 23 carries for 130 yards and a touchdown in Week 2. While it’s certainly true that backup QB Chris Streveler, who served as the spot starter in Week 2 while Zach Collaros served a one-game suspension, could vulture a goal-line opportunity or two, Peterson should have enough touches to have a viable chance at cashing this play.
The Lions are also now allowing the second-most rushing yards (144.0) and doing so at 5.5 yards per carry, and the Bombers are up to 4.5-point road favorites while being projected for a robust 26.5 points.
