Lawler has wasted no time making a significant mark in the Tiger-Cats’ prolific Bo Levi Mitchell-led passing game, producing a 24-483-5 line through his first four games in a Hamilton uniform. The veteran speedster is coming off a memorable Week 5 effort against the Argonauts, whom he touched up for six receptions, 207 yards, and three touchdowns on seven targets.

Lawler has seen between seven and 13 targets in every game thus far, so the chemistry between him and Mitchell, who’s completing just under 70.0% of his passes and has a 9:1 TD:INT, is undeniable. The prolific duo should be in a favorable spot to continue thriving in Week 6, considering the opposing Redblacks are allowing a 70.6% completion rate, the league’s third-highest figure.

Ottawa has also surrendered the second-most completions of 30+ yards (12), while Lawler is tied for the league lead with six such catches of that distance. He also is averaging a CFL-best 120.8 receiving yards per game and has brought in a league-high eight receptions on a co-league high 14 targets of 20 yards or longer in depth, putting both of these props firmly in play in a game that also carries a monster total of 54.5 points.

Justin Rankin Props

Higher Than 65.5 Rushing Yards

An all-state track star in his high school days, Rankin is an explosive back who is a legitimate threat to score any time the ball is in his hands. He aptly demonstrated as much in Week 5 when he ripped off a 74-yard touchdown run – the longest rushing play in the CFL through five weeks – on his way to a 105-yard day against the Redblacks. The game marked Rankin’s second in four this season with more than 65.5 rushing yards, and conditions appear ripe for another productive performance Sunday night.

The Elks will get a visit from the Lions, who have the CFL’s most generous run defense by far. B.C. is allowing a league-high 136.5 rushing yards per game and doing so at a robust 5.4 yards per carry. Rankin is averaging 6.2 yards per carry and already has eight runs of 10+ yards – including a co-CFL-best three of 20+ – across just 38 carries.

Rankin averaged 4.7 yards per carry or more each season during his college tenure at Kent State and Northwest Missouri State, had three highly efficient seasons in the Indoor Football League, and then averaged 7.8 yards per carry as a CFL rookie in 2024, giving him a resume that supports the notion he’s capable of exploiting a highly favorable matchup in a game with a narrow spread and 51.5-point total.
