Warriors vs Nuggets Prediction Today – Thursday, October 23
This is the kind of early-season heavyweight tilt that tells you a lot more than the box score: Golden State just opened with a win and is leaning into small-ball lineups; Denver brings the most dangerous hub in basketball — Nikola Jokić — and a supporting cast that’s quietly dangerous.
The market’s split — Warriors slight favorites at home, Nuggets a juicy +110 — which means there’s real nuance to tease out. Here’s what to watch, who’s likely to play, and where the edges are.

Nuggets Props and Prediction
Nikola Jokić is still the best player on Earth. He’s the gravitational force here — post, pick-and-pop, and the assist engine when defenses overcommit. What many bettors underestimate is how Denver’s supporting cast fits around him.
Cameron Johnson over Michael Porter Jr. for primary wing minutes is a legit upgrade in my book — Johnson spaces better and has an instinctual sense for the voids Jokić creates. That matters for Jokić assists and for team efficiency in tight windows.
The Bruce Brown reunion is also a larger story than the headlines suggest. Brown knows how to move without the ball in a Jokić system; his timing on cuts and his willingness to take charges and earn deflections makes him a defensive multiplier.
When Draymond is playing center, Jokic will push him around – and when the help defense comes, there are plenty of capable slashers and shooters now.
In the opener, I’m expecting Denver to be heavy on Jokić usage, to hunt mismatches, and to lean on veterans to cut and spot up. If the Nuggets’ wings hit early, they turn this into a track meet — and that helps Jokić’s PRA numbers, which this matchup historically favors.
Warriors Props and Prediction
Stephen Curry remains the fulcrum; he’ll swing momentum with pull-up threes and transition looks. Moses Moody is listed out, and Draymond’s minutes might be watched closely.
Golden State’s challenge vs Jokic is classic: they’ll need to limit second-chance points and avoid over-helping on the drive. Al Horford is a veteran attempt to add size, but veterans don’t always equal a stop on a horse the size of Jokić.
If Horford mans minutes at center, he can contest, but he’s not going to be a solution – then again, nobody is against Jokic. Horford ranked 22nd among centers last year in defensive rating (according to NBA.com), which is fine, but does not scratch the itch.
Jimmy Butler will have to get to the line at will, and we’ll see if Jonathan Kuminga has finally taken that leap that the Warriors front office has been expecting. I would say Kuminga is a key cog to how far Golden State might go in a loaded Western Conference this year.
The Warriors will look to ride an energized home court and take advantage of transition opportunities if the Nuggets are sloppy with the ball.

Warriors vs Nuggets Props – Nikola Jokic
- Higher than 49.5 Points + Rebounds + Assists
I wrote about Jokic in our best NBA props piece. He has covered this number in six of the last seven meetings vs. Golden State. I am not typically all about historical matchups vs teams because so much changes, but he has taken advantage of the GSW scheme every year.
Good luck!
