Every year, we have to wait till the Super Bowl concludes to find out what color will make its appearance in the celebratory shower. This doesn’t stop us from taking a deep dive into the Super Bowl Gatorade odds while looking at the history and color props ahead of the matchup between the Chiefs and 49ers.

Below, we’ll break down this year’s Super Bowl Gatorade odds and offer our best prediction about what color we’ll see in this year’s victory.

Most Popular Super Bowl Gatorade Color Props

An important note is that orange has been the celebratory Gatorade shower five times since 2001. With Orange sitting at an impressive 21.3% in that time, it is closely followed by water (17.4%), no Gatorade shower (17.4%), and blue (17.4%), which have all made an appearance four times since 2001.

The Chiefs and 49ers also share the color red in their uniforms, but unfortunately, red has not made a single appearance since 2001 — so it is unlikely we’ll see it in this matchup.

What Color Are People Betting?

According to BetMGM, the color orange has seen the most betting tickets and money. Here’s a full list by amount of bets placed on a certain color:

  1. Orange – 29% of betting tickets
  2. Yellow / Green / Lime – 21%
  3. Red / Pink – 20%
  4. Clear / Water – 13%
  5. Blue 7%
  6. Purple 3%

It’s interesting to see that orange leads the way by a significant margin while purple is firmly the least popular pick. That’s significant, as the Chiefs used purple last season, so people must not expect history to repeat itself if the Chiefs win.

Also, the shorter odds for purple make it a less interesting bet with a smaller payout, which likely plays a factor in these stats.

What Color Was The Gatorade In Super Bowl 2023?

The Chiefs showered Andy Reid in purple Gatorade last year in their win over the Eagles. This could be the reason why it’s the favorite going into this year as the Chiefs will make another appearance in the Super Bowl with history that could repeat itself.

The Eagles’ green and white jersey colors in the Super Bowl last year also provided a bit of contrast to the Chiefs’ red and white. So maybe purple was just as close to neutral as we were going to get?

Super Bowl Gatorade Color Prediction

All signs seem to point to the historical favorite orange as the color of this year’s Super Bowl Gatorade shower. It just seems to fit if we’re going off two teams who have red and white jerseys. and will need a color that fits as neutral.

If we rewind to the Chiefs’ Super win in 2020, orange made one of its five appearances when they played the 49ers. Coincidence? I think not. We’re rolling with history repeating itself here in a rematch just four years later.
