Spurs vs Mavericks Predictions – Wednesday, October 22
Victor Wembanyama returns for his third season with the San Antonio Spurs. He’s currently the favorite to win the Defensive Player of the Year, and he’s near the top in MVP odds.
The Dallas Mavericks lucked their way into the first overall pick, Cooper Flagg, after trading Luka Doncic last season. He’ll immediately start and play a major role, although this is still Anthony Davis’ team.

Spurs Predictions and Preview
The Spurs will need a monster, healthy year out of Wemby, as they look to bounce back from a disappointing season.
The Spurs were injured last year, which was part of the issue. That’s the case early this season, as they’ll be without De’Aaron Fox in this game. He’ll be replaced by the second overall pick, Dylan Harper.
San Antonio boasts a combination of high-end veterans along with high-upside young players, who they’ll need to take a step forward to find consistent success throughout the 2025-26 season.
Mavs Predictions and Preview
The Mavericks will be without Kyrie Irving to start the season, and he’ll be the other focal point with Davis once he’s healthy. Daniel Gafford is also listed as questionable for this game, and he’ll likely see limited minutes if he can suit up.
Dallas will have an interesting decision to make for this game. D’Angelo Russell can slide into the point guard position, or they can shift Flagg to “point” with PJ Washington drawing the start at small forward. This will be one of the biggest keys to finding which players have the most value in this rotation.
Spurs vs Mavs Props and Picks Today
There are plenty of San Antonio vs Dallas player props to choose from on Underdog for Wednesday night’s slate of games. Let’s dive into the Spurs vs Mavs predictions!
Victor Wembanyama Player Props – Higher Than 39.5 PRA
Wembanyama struggled with injuries last season, but he still averaged 39 PRA in 33.2 minutes per game. He averaged a healthy 1.4 PRA per minute throughout the preseason, topping out at 42 PRA in only 24.5 minutes. I’m not concerned about the matchup against Dallas for someone as talented as Wemby.
Stephon Castle Player Props – Higher Than 15.5 Points
Castle looked outstanding as a rookie, averaging 14.7 points in 26.7 minutes per game. He’s going to take on a bigger role with De’Aaron Fox injured, and he should be the second scoring option. He averaged 24.3 points on a per-36-minute basis in the preseason, and he should take a step forward as a sophomore.
Dereck Lively Player Props – Higher Than 16.5 PRA
Lively is in line for a big workload, with Daniel Gafford working his way back from injury. He averaged 18.6 PRA in only 23.1 minutes per game last season. He also averaged 0.9 PRA per minute in the preseason. It’s a difficult matchup against Wembanyama, but it’s too low of a total for a player who could see ~25 minutes tonight.
