Rams-Panthers Predictions – NFL Playoffs Saturday (Jan. 10)
Bryce Young carved up the Rams’ secondary in the regular-season meeting (15/20, 206 yards, 3 TDs), while Matthew Stafford coughed up three ugly turnovers in a game LA had no business losing.
Fast forward six weeks, and these teams look completely different. The Rams (12-5) finished as the NFC’s 5th seed with the NFL’s most explosive offense – No. 1 in scoring (30.5 PPG) and total yards (394.6 per game).
Stafford put together a career-best season with 46 touchdown passes against just 8 interceptions, looking like the guy who hoisted the Lombardi Trophy in 2022. Meanwhile, Carolina (8-9) backed into the playoffs as NFC South champs despite ranking 27th in offense (295.6 yards/game) and 27th in scoring (18.3 PPG). They’re the second team in NFL history to win a division with a losing record, joining their own 2014 squad.
But check out how each team closed the season. The Rams went 3-2 in their final five, with dominant home wins over Arizona (45-17 and 37-20) sandwiched around a heartbreaking OT loss in Seattle and a close road defeat in Atlanta.
At home in SoFi, LA was virtually unstoppable down the stretch. Carolina, on the other hand, limped to the finish line at 2-3, getting throttled 27-10 by Seattle at home before dropping a gut-wrenching 16-14 road game to Tampa in Week 18 that nearly cost them the division.
Ram vs Panthers Injury Report
The Rams are dealing with offensive line issues – starting guard Kevin Dotson is OUT with an ankle injury, forcing Justin Dedich into the starting lineup. That’s a concern against any playoff defense, but Carolina’s pass rush hasn’t been overwhelming this season. The Panthers recorded just 31 sacks as a team, with rookie Nic Scourton leading the way with modest production.
On the flip side, Carolina could get a boost if veteran guard Robert Hunt (biceps) returns after missing since Week 2. That would shore up their offensive line against a Rams front seven led by Jared Verse (7.5 sacks) and Kobie Turner. LA’s defense isn’t elite – they ranked 17th overall – but they’ve got enough juice up front to make Young uncomfortable.

Rams vs Panthers Expert Picks: Player Props & Wild Card Predictions
When the Rams have lost games this season, moving the ball was rarely an issue. While I’m not as crazy about them coming across the country to play outside, dealing with multiple time-zone changes, I think Stafford has done enough to shoot down that narrative (last year’s Eagles playoff game).
Tyler Higbee > 24.5 Receiving Yards
Tyler Higbee looked like he hadn’t missed a beat when he came back from his lengthy injury absence. His receiving yards prop is a really low number on a team that is desperate for a third playmaker through the air. With so much attention on Nacua and Adams, Higbee should draw favorable coverage on every snap.
Tet McMillan > 11.05 Fantasy Points
On the flip side, Tet is the volume hog on Carolina, and we’ve seen true flashes of brilliance from him this season. With Vegas expecting the Panthers to play from behind, I’m taking a crack at his Underdog offerings as well.
Good luck!
