NFL Preseason Props Today: Sunday, August 17
Week 2 of the NFL preseason is already here, and we’re ready to roll through the best picks.
Before we dive in, here’s who’s playing on Sunday:
Sunday, August 17th
- Jaguars at Saints (1 p.m. ET)
- Bills at Bears (8 p.m. ET)
Spencer Rattler Higher Than 75.5 Passing Yards
The New Orleans Saints told us this is a two-QB race for the starting job in Week 1. Spencer Rattler and Tyler Shough split reps, with Jake Haener closing out the game.
We can expect Shough and Rattler to switch roles with the rookie starting and the veteran coming in second.
Once again, these two should split reps. Rattler looked fine in Week 1, completing 7 of 11 passes for 53 yards. He wasn’t overly impressive, and Shough had a much bigger role. That was likely more due to the game environment than anything, though.
Rattler won’t play against the Jaguars’ starters today, and he’ll get all of his work against their backups.
The other key here is that if New Orleans gives these two the same reps as last week, Rattler will get the final drive before half, giving him a bonus of the 2-minute drill.
Where to play: Spencer Rattler higher than 75.5 passing yards | 1.87x at Underdog
Frank Gore Higher Than 24.5 Rushing Yards
Gore looked great in Week 1, but he did the majority of his damage through the air rather than on the ground. He posted 21 yards on only 5 carries for the Buffalo Bills. He added 50 yards on 5 receptions through the air.
James Cook signed a new contract, and it’s unknown if he’s going to play in this game. Ray Davis and Ty Johnson split first-half snaps in Week 1, and we can expect that to happen once again.
The important difference here is that Darrynton Evans left practice with a hamstring injury a couple of days ago, and it’s unknown if he’s going to play today.
If Evans is out, Gore should get the entire second half as the only running back left to play. Even if Evans plays, they’ll likely split snaps again.
There’s too much potential volume to pass up Gore at this number. He’s one of my favorite NFL preseason bets today.
