The Minnesota Wolves found a win in their first game of the season. Anthony Edwards flashed his MVP potential, scoring a team-high 41 points.
The Los Angeles Lakers dropped their first game to the Golden State Warriors. They’re trying to figure their team out without LeBron James, and that’s something they’ll need to figure out early in this season.

Timberwolves Props and Prediction
Julius Randle and Rudy Gobert were the other two players locked into big minutes for Minnesota. Jaden McDaniels played nearly 30 minutes, and he had a surprisingly big role in the offense.
Arguably, the most surprising aspect of their rotation was Naz Reid finding only 20 minutes off the bench. He was given a big contract in the offseason, and he’s likely to find a larger role as the season progresses.
This is a team that is clearly going to rely heavily on their “Big 3” (Edwards, Randle, and Gobert – to a lesser extent) with others finding roles throughout their rotation.
Lakers Props and Prediction
Luka Doncic is the clear leader of the team, nearly posting a triple-double with 43 points. Austin Reaves also found plenty of success, adding 26 points.
The Lakers need to find their third scoring option if they want to find wins without James. Rui Hachimura is the obvious option, but he posted only 9 points on 6 FGA in his first game. Deandre Ayton also didn’t find much offensive success, although he was efficient.
This is a team that is going to struggle until someone outside of Doncic and Reaves finds success.

His shot wasn’t falling, and he struggled with fouls throughout the game. Still, he’s taking on a much larger role with James out, and he’s consistently produced as the #2 option in this offense.
Rudy Gobert Props Today
- Higher Than 9.5 Rebounds
Gobert struggled to grab rebounds in Minnesota’s first game, but the advanced stats tell us a different story. He ended the game with only 6 rebounds, which ranked behind Randle and Edwards.
He saw a team-high 23 rebound chances, though, which nearly doubled the next player. He’s still an elite rebounder, and he’ll convert those chances at a drastically higher rate throughout the season.
Luka Doncic Props Today
- Higher Than 48.5 PRA
This is an absurdly high number for Doncic, but he’s playing at an elite level. He posted 43 points on 27 FGA, 10 3PA, and 10 FTA in his first game. He also led Los Angeles with 17 rebound chances and 17 potential assists. He’s taking on a massive role with James injured, and he’s the focal point of this offense.
