Lakers Prediction, News & Preview
If Doncic is out, Austin Reaves would step into that elite role once again. If he’s in, he’ll be the focal point of the rotation with Reaves acting as the secondary option again. It’s important to note that Reaves will act as the leader when Doncic isn’t on the floor, but the latter will still be the top option for the majority of the game.
Rui Hachimura, Deandre Ayton, and Jake LaRavia are the other options who will play bigger minutes. They have different roles, but each can find points with Ayton being the top rebounding option.
If Marcus Smart is active, he’ll play solid minutes as well. Jarred Vanderbilt and Jaxson Hayes are the other players who can find minutes, but they won’t be useful.
Grizzlies Prediction, News & Preview
The Memphis Grizzlies are also dealing with injuries, as Zach Edey, Brandon Clarke, Scotty Pippen Jr., and Ty Jerome are out. They’re still running a shockingly deep rotation.
Ja Morant and Jaren Jackson Jr. are the two focal points of the offense. They’ve been ramping up early this season, and it looks like they’re going to continue to play 30+ minutes.
Jock Landale and Santi Aldama are two bigs who will find minutes. Jaylen Wells and Cedric Cowards are wing options who are likely to play minutes in the mid-20s. Kentavious Caldwell-Pope is another player who will find ~25 minutes tonight.
The only player I didn’t mention there was Cam Spencer. He has an extremely limited role, but he’s facilitating at a shockingly high rate.
Lakers vs Grizzlies Props and Picks Today
There are plenty of Los Angeles vs Memphis player props to choose from on Underdog for Friday night’s slate of games. Let’s dive into the Lakers vs Grizzlies predictions!
Austin Reaves Player Props – Higher Than 41.5 PRA
Luka Doncic is currently questionable, leaving Reaves’ role a bit up in the air. He’s averaging 40 points, 5.3 rebounds, and 9 assists per game without him. His predictive metrics are even better.
This likely isn’t a play to make if Doncic returns, though, as he’d shift back into that elite role and Reaves would be the secondary option. Doncic would become an interesting play, though.
Cedric Coward Player Props – Higher Than 11.5 Points
Coward’s in the midst of a hot start for his rookie season. He’s averaging the third-most points (16) per game for the Memphis Grizzlies. He’s earning more minutes, and the Los Angeles Lakers have struggled against opposing small forwards throughout the season.
Jaren Jackson Jr. Player Props – Higher Than 21.5 PA
Jackson’s been a bit of a disappointment for the Memphis Grizzlies through 5 games. He’s only averaging 17.6 points on 12.4 FGA, 4.0 3PA, and 4.8 FTA per game. The Los Angeles Lakers have featured one of the worst defenses in the NBA against power forwards, though, and this is a spot where Jackson can have his first dominant game of the season.
