It’s been a Cinderella-esque run for Legacy. This is a team that didn’t even originally qualify for the major yet only made it because another organization couldn’t secure VISAs in time.
We expect the good times to come to an end against a seasoned Mousesports team that is starting to find its gear after a slow start to the tournament. Spinx and xertioN are the team’s most reliable fraggers, while torzsi can get hot with the AWP.
MongolZ will then do battle with G2 in what should be a hard-fought, competitive game. Ultimately we feel MongolZ will be able to scrape by and book the spot in the playoffs. G2 has been heavily linked with upcoming roster moves (a new AWPer and coach coming in from HEROIC), so that always gives me a little pause when it comes to team chemistry in general.
To wrap up the day, we get paiN up against Virtus.pro, and we believe the Brazilians will be able to get the job done. They’ve found their groove in Austin and are on a roll after a rough 0-2 start to Stage 3, and we think their energy will serve them well against the Russians.

It’s been a wild start to Stage 3 at the major and we’ve already seen quite a few upsets.
Early on we’ll have best-of-one matches, with the likes of Vitality and FaZe hoping to move to 2-1 in Stage 3. We’ll also see a couple of teams book the first spots into the playoffs — thanks to a flawless 2-0 start yesterday, the winners of Na’Vi/Spirit and FURIA/Virtus.pro will qualify early for the knockout rounds.
Two teams will also be eliminated altogether today, and those will be decided late in the day. Mousesports has been a big disappointment and dropped both opening games, and now they’ll face an elimination best-of-three against Liquid, who has looked poor overall.
paiN and Nemiga will also do battle to stay alive in the tournament.

— Vitality got destroyed and the long winning streak has come to an end, while Mousesports also lost in the morning match. They’ll have hills to climb now and will be doing everything in their power to avoid the dreaded 0-2 start.
— Spirit and Aurora looked strong in their respective matchups this morning and are in a great spot to start Stage 3.
— Na’Vi came out sharp and took care of business against Nemiga, an encouraging sign for Aleksib’s crew.
— FURIA picked up a great win over MongolZ, with molodoy dominating with the AWP in the surprise victory.

Remember that the best-of-one format makes things a lot spicier when making DFS and betting decisions. There is a lot more variance, on a team and player level.
Vitality is the overall favorite to win the event, while Mousesports and Spirit are the other two big contenders. It will be interesting to see how they come out and perform against some of these teams that have been grinding their way through Stages 1 and 2.

We wouldn’t be surprised to see a couple of upsets here on the opening day.
One intriguing spot we are looking at is Spirit/paiN. Obviously it’s hard to bet against donk, who’s the most dominant player in CS2, but paiN has been looking strong at the major so far. While Spirit is much stiffer competition in general, paiN could pull off a shocking result if they come out of the gates sharp.
Likewise for Nemiga, who has looked pretty threatening in the first couple of stages. They’ll come up against Na’Vi, who haven’t been convincing at recent tournaments and haven’t played a high-stakes match in a while. We think that one could go either way.

On paper, HEROIC is the more talented team and should be able to take care of business, but Nemiga has been performing well throughout this event and is bringing the energy too. zweih has been the most dependable fragger for Nemiga, while khaN has been an impactful AWPer.

An interesting matchup here, but ultimately we think B8 will prove too much. Though they lost to FURIA yesterday, the Ukrainians have picked up some nice wins at the major so far, namely over Falcons (13-8) and HEROIC (13-10).
FaZe > MIBR 2-1
We save the best for last. This should be a highly entertaining battle between the international lineup of FaZe and the Brazilian team MIBR. MIBR just picked up a huge win over Falcons yesterday to survive and now has to overcome s1mple, frozen, EliGE and company.

phzy vs. Legacy — A talented AWPer who can take over maps on his own, so we like the upside for DFS. We believe Wildcard will grab the win against the Brazilians in this spot.
regali vs. TYLOO — A similar situation here for regali, the team’s AWPer, in what should be a hard-fought series between FlyQuest and TYLOO. nettik is also worth considering for the Australians.
Moseyuh vs. FlyQuest — He has been the team’s most impactful fragger at the major thus far and this should be a back-and-forth encounter with FlyQuest.

nicoodoz (OG) vs. Complexity – Most experienced player on OG and has been to a lot of majors; Complexity playing with stand-in (junior) for hallzerk, which improves the matchup for nicoodoz.
tN1R (HEROIC) vs. Chinggis Warriors – A strong aimer with excellent game sense. He’s a player to watch for the future, and HEROIC should be able to win without a lot of trouble.
npl (B8) vs. Imperial – Both the in-game leader and a star player for B8, who we believe will emerge victorious over Imperial.
Magnojez (BetBoom) vs. Nemiga — Nemiga is pretty strong opposition, but Magnojez is a very talented player with strong upside. We also like zweih on the Nemiga side in this series.
regali (FlyQuest) vs. Fluxo – We typically like to target regali when FlyQuest is in more favorable matchups, which appears to be the case on the opening day.
BLAST Austin Major 2025 Event Preview
The location of the CS2 Majors changes every year, so it’s pretty cool that the 2025 edition will be held in Austin, Texas.
Stage 1: June 3rd to June 6th
Stage 2: June 7th to June 10th
Stage 3: June 12th to June 22nd
Stage 1 will start on June 3rd, as 16 teams battle it out for eight spots into Stage 2 of Counter-Strike’s biggest tournament of the year. Those eight teams will join eight squads that already qualified for Stage 2, headlined by Falcons and FaZe.
From there, eight teams will survive out of 16 and advance to Stage 3, where eight top-tier teams that earned a direct spot to Stage 3 await. That list includes Vitality, MOUZ, Spirit, The MongolZ, Aurora, G2, Natus Vincere and Liquid.
