College Football Futures Bets: Odds and Expert Picks
It can be overwhelming to keep up with all of the player movements and transactions, as the transfer portal has changed the entire landscape of NCAA sports. That’s why our guy Justin Bales is here this week to bring you his best bets and everything you need to know to get ahead of the market.
College Football Futures Bets: Win Totals
Win totals are one of the most popular markets to bet on. Let’s dive into some best bets.
Futures Pick: Clemson Tigers Over 9.5 Wins
We’re drinking the juice here, but this is a total that makes no sense. Clemson features one of the best rosters in the country. They’re going to dominate at the point of attack on both sides of the ball. The Tigers also feature one of the best wide receiver groups in the NCAA. Finally, Cade Klubnik is a true Heisman candidate at quarterback.
Clemson doesn’t have an overly difficult ACC schedule, as they avoid Miami (FL) this season. They also get SMU at home. The only ACC matchup that I’m slightly concerned with is Louisville on the road, but there’s still a large talent gap between the two teams.
Clemson did add two difficult games against SEC opponents in their non-conference schedule. Their toughest game will be against LSU, but it’ll be played at home this season. They also end the season on the road against South Carolina.
This is a situation where I’d have no problems with you shifting this to Clemson o10.5 wins at +125 odds on FanDuel.

Futures Pick: Arizona State Sun Devils Over 8.5 Wins
This is probably the most surprising line I’ve seen. Cam Skattebo was an incredible player, but Arizona State has several other high-end options remaining on its roster.
Sam Leavitt and Jordyn Tyson are two stars who will take over the offense. The Sun Devils did well in the portal to fill out their roster, and they have a few players who could end up being All-Big 12 players by the end of the season.
The most important aspect here is their schedule. There’s a very real chance that Arizona State is the favorite in 11 of their 12 games this season. The Sun Devils get a road matchup against the Iowa State Cyclones, where they’re likely to be underdogs.
Keep in mind that doesn’t mean Arizona State will win 11 games. We’re just getting too large of a buffer, specifically with the odds, for a team that could be favored in 11 games.

Futures Pick: Alabama Crimson Tide Over 9.5 Wins
We’re going to get a switch for this Alabama offense this season. Head coach Kalen DeBoer and offensive coordinator Ryan Grubb are bringing their offense to Alabama for the first time since the former took over as the head coach.
The Crimson Tide are loaded with skill position players. They have a strong foundation at the offensive line as well. Finally, there aren’t many question marks around their defense. This bet likely comes down to how you feel about Ty Simpson and his ability to lead the offense.
The final check toward the over is that Alabama will feature Tennessee and LSU at home this season. Granted, they have several tough road games, including Georgia, but getting two of their toughest opponents at home is a massive benefit.

College Football Futures Bets: Heisman Trophy
The Heisman Trophy is the highest individual honor awarded to the best player in College Football, or so it would seem. It’s also one of the most popular college football futures bets. For as much as this is an individual award, it’s only given to a player on a successful team. There are certain baselines we can look for when determining who to bet. Here’s the list:
- 12/L15 Heisman winners were quarterbacks
- No true freshmen
- Every Heisman winner since 2010 has had 9+ wins (majority 10+)
- 4,800+ yards & 45+ touchdowns for QBs, 1,800+ yards & 20+ touchdowns for RB/WRs
- Televised opportunity to create a “media moment”
Futures Pick: Cade Klubnik, QB, Clemson
- Betting Odds: +1000
Klubnik is my favorite overall Heisman option (in terms of college football futures bets), regardless of odds, this season. He took the step forward in 2024 that everyone was expecting, posting 4,102 yards and 43 touchdowns with only 6 interceptions. These are slightly under the numbers we’re looking for out of a quarterback, and it’s fair to expect another step forward in 2025.
The Tigers boast one of the best receiving groups in the NCAA, and they’re going to have a dominant offensive line. They’re projected for double-digit wins this season, and that’s likely to come on the arm of Klubnik. Granted, Gideon Davidson is a talented freshman in the backfield, but Clemson isn’t likely to hesitate in allowing their senior quarterback to prove he’s the best in the nation.
Truthfully, Clemson’s schedule is relatively easy compared to other players. There are multiple opportunities for Klubnik to get his “media moment,” including the Tigers’ first game against LSU. He’ll be held in high regard if he can out-duel fellow Heisman candidate Garrett Nussmeier. He can also put a stamp on the season by beating another Heisman candidate in LaNorris Sellers in Clemson’s final game.

Futures Pick: Sam Leavitt, QB, Arizona State
- Betting Odds: +3300
Arizona State broke out last season because of the trio of Sam Leavitt, Cam Skattebo, and Jordyn Tyson. Their star quarterback totaled 3,328 yards and 29 touchdowns with only 6 interceptions. He’s going to need a massive uptick in numbers to be a Heisman contender, but it’s possible with Skattebo taking 2,316 yards and 24 touchdowns with him to the NFL.
Along with Leavitt’s progression, Arizona State is going to have to beat the odds to find 9+ wins. They’re currently set with slight odds under 8.5, so it isn’t a large jump, but it’s an important number to get to. They’re going to have the opportunity with multiple nationally televised games, including potential shootouts against TCU and Arizona.

We saw incredible progress from Leavitt in his first season with Arizona State, and he’ll have the full keys to the offense this season. If the Sun Devils can win double-digit games, there won’t be any questions as to whether it was because of Leavitt or someone else.

Futures Pick: Ty Simpson, QB, Alabama
- Betting Odds: +6600
This is the biggest leap of faith I’m taking in this article. Simpson hasn’t even officially won the starting job at Alabama, but it looks like he will. He was an elite recruit coming out of high school, and he’s been sitting behind some dominant quarterbacks during his time with the Crimson Tide.
I believe in Alabama’s ability to consistently produce quarterbacks, and they’re projected to win double-digit games again this season. Most importantly, the Crimson Tide has a loaded team around Simpson.
We know Alabama will have several nationally televised games where Simpson can make a name for himself. One of the biggest keys here is that there are so many mouths to feed on offense that the player feeding them is the most likely to stand out as the Heisman candidate.
Where to Bet: Ty Simpson Heisman Winner | +6600 at BetMGM Sportsbook
Futures Pick: Jeremiyah Love, RB, Notre Dame
- Betting Odds: +5000
Truthfully, it isn’t a smart bet to take anyone besides a quarterback for Heisman futures bets. Love is in a quietly good spot to make a case, though.
The star running back looked elite last season, posting 1,362 yards and 19 touchdowns on 191 touches. He didn’t even rank first on the team in carries, though. That was quarterback Riley Leonard, who ran for 906 yards and 17 touchdowns. I don’t expect Jadarian Price to get benched, but the loss of Leonard will give Love plenty of opportunity for more production.
Redshirt freshman CJ Carr is expected to start for Notre Dame, who is projected to win double-digit games this season. If the Fighting Irish find similar success to last season, it’ll be on the back of Love. There aren’t many players who have 2,500/25 potential. That’s aggressive because of Notre Dame’s limits for Love, but I’m expecting a drastically heavier workload for their best player in 2025.
