College Football Week 7 Picks & Preview
Week 6 gave us another dose of college football chaos. Penn State’s season took a hit, Miami-Florida State went off the rails, and Alabama roared back into Playoff position. Now the sport turns to a loaded Week 7 — maybe not quite as wild on paper, but bursting with storylines.
From an undefeated North Texas QB who went from JV backup to star, to multiple Top-25 duels in the Big Ten and SEC, this Saturday has depth everywhere you look.
No. 24 South Florida at North Texas (Friday, 7:30 p.m. ET)
North Texas is one of the best stories of the season. Quarterback Drew Messenger — who barely played in high school — has 11 touchdowns and no interceptions. He’s now the heart of an unbeaten Mean Green team. (Fans can check out his journey here.)
North Texas’ offense is efficient, yet their run defense remains leaky.
The matchup should be tight, but experience matters — and the Bulls have more of it.
Pick: USF ML
Rutgers at Washington (Friday, 9 p.m. ET)
Washington pulled off a miraculous 24-20 comeback at Maryland last week, scoring 21 unanswered points in the fourth quarter.
That momentum carries home to Seattle. Rutgers has dropped two straight, but did score 28 points in each, and now faces a Huskies team that can light it up late. Expect Washington’s defense to keep Gavin Wimsatt in check.
Pick: Washington ML, Over 59.5
Fresno State at Colorado State (Friday, 9 p.m. ET)
Fresno’s five-game win streak has been built on QB E.J. Warner’s steady improvement. The son of Hall-of-Famer Kurt Warner had five interceptions through the first three weeks — since then, seven touchdowns to just one pick.
Pick: Fresno State ML
College Football Week 7 Picks – Saturday
Let’s dive into the min slate and find some winners!
No. 1 Ohio State at No. 17 Illinois (Saturday, Noon ET)
Luke Altmyer’s been brilliant for Illinois (12 TD, 0 INT) and finally gets a stage against the nation’s No. 1 team. The Illini score in bunches when they win — 34 plus each time — but Ohio State’s defense hasn’t allowed two touchdowns in any game. This could be the week they finally bend a little. Expect a livelier scoreboard than most Buckeye games.
Pick: Illinois +14.5 | Over 49.5
No. 8 Alabama at No. 14 Missouri (Saturday, Noon ET)
Ty Simpson has Alabama humming: 13 touchdowns, one pick, and a steady command of the offense. Missouri is undefeated but untested, rolling through an easy early schedule capped by a 42-6 win over UMass. The Tide just handled Georgia and Vanderbilt back-to-back; momentum’s real, and Bama’s defensive front is thriving.
Pick: Alabama –3
No. 7 Indiana at No. 3 Oregon (Saturday, 3:30 p.m. ET)
A clash of near-perfect quarterbacks: Oregon’s Dante Moore (14 TD, 1 INT) versus Indiana’s Fernando Mendoza (16 TD, 1 INT). Moore is coming off a heroic overtime win over Penn State and a Bye week for rest; Mendoza’s Hoosiers average more than 40 points when they win. Autzen Stadium should see fireworks. Indiana can hang early, but Oregon’s home streak and depth give them the edge late.
Pick: Oregon –7.5 | Over 55
No. 6 Oklahoma vs. Texas (Saturday, 3:30 p.m. ET in Dallas)
Arch Manning and Texas look shaky after a two-pick outing versus Florida, while Oklahoma has flattened opponents, including a 44-0 win over Kent State. The Sooners’ “Dog Pound” pass rush — already 21 sacks this season — should make Manning uncomfortable again. Rivalry games are rarely clean, but OU’s balance carries through.
Pick: Oklahoma ML
No. 22 Iowa State at Colorado (Saturday, 3:30 p.m. ET)
Deion Sanders and Colorado are searching for a season-saving moment. The 2-4 Buffs have been competitive but can’t close. Iowa State’s defense got shredded last week at Cincinnati, and Boulder’s altitude and crowd could tilt things toward the home side. The Buffs only have 1 other currently ranked opponent on their schedule, so this game may be their best chance to pick up steam.
Pick: Colorado ML
No. 10 Georgia at Auburn (Saturday, 7:30 p.m. ET)
Georgia’s Gunner Stockton has one interception all season and adds value on the ground — two rushing TDs last week in a 35-13 win over Kentucky. Auburn’s played every ranked opponent tough, losing to Oklahoma by 7 and Texas A&M by 6. Expect another nail-biter inside Jordan-Hare as the Tigers lean on their defense to slow the Bulldogs.
Pick: Auburn +3.5
