Ladd McConkey Lower Than 59.5 Receiving Yards
Let’s kick off our Chargers vs Commanders predictions with Ladd McConkey, who has been one of the biggest fantasy disappointments to start the year.
He was a massive smash as a rookie, racking up 82 catches for 1,149 yards and seven touchdowns, so he was drafted as a borderline top-10 option at receiver heading into his sophomore campaign.
Unfortunately, McConkey has had significantly more competition for targets this season. Quentin Johnston has seemingly broken out as a former first-round NFL Draft pick.
He’s racked up 22 catches, 337 yards, and four touchdowns through the first four weeks, solidifying his status as the team’s big-play threat at receiver. The Chargers also added Keenan Allen this offseason, giving McConkey more competition for targets in the short to intermediate areas.
Allen has proven that he can still get open at 33 years old, and he’s been a major thorn in McConkey’s side: he’s racked up 35 total targets, and he’s had double-digit targets in two of four games.
It has resulted in McConkey dipping to third in the team’s pecking order. His target share currently sits at just 19%, compared to 25% for Johnston and 24% for Allen. McConkey’s target share was 26% as a rookie, and it approached 30% down the stretch.
Things also appear to be trending in the wrong direction. His target share has decreased in each week, culminating in a 16% mark in Week 4 vs. the Giants. Even with the Chargers passing the ball more frequently this season, McConkey has managed more than 59.5 yards just once this season.
He’s had fewer than 59.5 in three straight games, and I see no reason why that can’t continue vs. the Commanders.

Jayden Daniels Lower Than 8.5 Rushing Attempts
Let’s focus on Jayden Daniels props for the next part of our Chargers vs Commanders predictions.
Daniels has been cleared to return to action for the Commanders after missing back-to-back games with a knee injury. He was upgraded to a full participant at practice this week, and he told reporters that he plans to be out there vs. the Chargers.
That said, it’s unclear which version of Daniels we’ll actually see. At his best, Daniels is one of the top dual-threat quarterbacks in football. He racked up just under 900 rushing yards as a rookie, and he’s averaged 42.5 rushing yards per game through his first two contests this season.
However, we saw Daniels play at less than 100% last season, and he wasn’t nearly as dynamic on the ground. He had to deal with a rib injury as a rookie, and he was far less aggressive as a runner in those contests.
The coaching staff limited his number of designed rushing attempts, and he was less likely to scramble as well.
That makes this number feel a bit high. Daniels finished with just seven carries in his last game, and something similar feels very reasonable against the Chargers.
