There are a plethora of reasons to use Sleeper Fantasy’s “Picks” product, but two stand above the rest.

First, Sleeper Picks has variable payouts. Sleeper’s payout changes based on the plays you pair together. The operator doesn’t have the same static numbers as some other sites, which allows you to create plays based on your risk tolerance.

Second, Sleeper has alternate player projections. This creates an option more similar to a sportsbook, which allows you to make picks on different “milestones” for players rather than one specific number. For example, you can predict someone to score 20+, 25+, 30+, etc. points.

The variable projections allow you to get different payouts for these milestones. Sleeper Picks gives you the option to create specific plays you want rather than a somewhat limited number of projections being available.

The combination of variable payouts and alt picks lets the user create a wide range of plays as desired.

Sleeper Fantasy Picks Today – Thursday, June 5

Now that you have more information about Sleeper Picks, it’s time to see if we can find some value in the lobby.

Every day, you’ll find a new set of our top plays across multiple sports.

Ryan Pepiot More Than 4.5 Strikeouts

Pepiot hasn’t been the pitcher that many expected this season, and his inconsistencies are the most frustrating part. He’s been able to get opponents to chase his pitches, but he isn’t getting many whiffs.

The right-hander is getting drastically fewer whiffs on his 4-seamer and slider this season. They look identical to last season, though. The velocity, spin rate, and movement are all virtually the same. It could show why some games he’s finding plenty of strikeouts while struggling in others.

Pepiot gets a great matchup against the Texas Rangers on Thursday. They rank third in the league in strikeout rate (26%) over the last 14 days. The Rangers also rank last in team wOBA (.244) over that span.

This should allow Pepiot to throw deeper into the game, giving him ample opportunities for strikeouts.

Casey Mize More Than 4.5 Strikeouts

Mize has outstanding advanced metrics this season, suggesting he’s throwing extremely well. He’s also due for positive strikeout regression, as his chase and whiff rates (54th and 70th percentiles) are drastically better than his strikeout rate (48th percentile). He quietly boasts four different pitches with a 19.7% or Putaway Percentage.

The former first overall pick gets an interesting matchup against the Chicago White Sox today. They aren’t an offense we automatically attack anymore, but they still struggle against right-handed pitching. Overall, the White Sox rank seventh in the MLB in strikeout rate (22.6%) and last in team wOBA (.285) against righties.

Mize struggled in his last game, but he got up to 79 pitches. He’ll likely see a full workload if he’s throwing well in this game, and I highly considered his Over 17.5 Pitching Outs line. Ultimately, I felt the strikeouts were a bit safer, as he’s likely to hit five Ks in six innings, but he could find them in drastically less if his pitch mix is working.
