DraftKings Pick6 Today: Monday, September 22
In this recurring article series, we’ll explain the why behind today’s picks and try to set you up for success in your DraftKings Pick6 play.
Today’s Sport Focus: NFL
ZAY FLOWERS MORE THAN 5.5 RECEPTIONS
Baltimore wide receiver Zay Flowers is quickly emerging as one of the league’s top young playmakers. After topping 1,000 yards in just his second NFL season, he looks poised for an even bigger breakout in year three.
Flowers has been the centerpiece of the Ravens passing attack through two weeks, opening the season with seven catches for 143 yards against Buffalo before following it up with another seven receptions and 75 yards against a tough Cleveland defense.
The production is strong, but the usage metrics are even more telling. Flowers ranks second in the NFL with a 39.6% target share and third with a 44.1% first-read rate, cementing his status as Lamar Jackson’s go-to weapon.
With defenses forced to respect Derrick Henry on the ground and Jackson playing at an MVP level, Flowers is thriving as the centerpiece of a balanced but explosive offensive attack.
Tonight, he faces a Lions defense that ranked sixth against the run last year but struggled mightily against the pass, allowing the second-most yards through the air.
That pass-funnel profile sets up Flowers for another heavy workload, making him a strong bet to clear 5.5 receptions on Monday night.
JAHMYR GIBBS MORE THAN 3.5 RECEPTIONS
Lions running back Jahmyr Gibbs continues trending toward a workhorse role, and that should be even more evident Monday night against the Ravens.
So far this season, Gibbs has played 61% of snaps compared to David Montgomery’s 38%. While the rushing workload remains fairly split, Gibbs dominates in the passing game, running routes on 57% of dropbacks versus just 25% for Montgomery.
Week 1, while trailing the Packers, Gibbs saw a massive 25.6% target share and hauled in 10 receptions. Even in Week 2, with the Lions controlling the game against Chicago, he still caught three passes.
Monday’s matchup is more likely to resemble the Week 1 script, with the Lions entering play as 4.5-point road underdogs.
Baltimore allowed the fewest rushing yards in the league last season, so even in a positive game script Gibbs should see usage in the passing game to get him out in space.
With his expanding role in the passing game and a matchup against a dominant run defense, Gibbs is well positioned to clear 3.5 receptions.
Pick6 Tip of the Day
The unique aspect about Pick6 compared to other pick ‘em apps like Underdog is that you are competing against other users.
Their success (in addition to yours) determines the amount of the payout that will go to the winning Pick Sets.
As a result, it can be beneficial to have a contrarian approach to your picks in pursuit of larger payouts.
Good luck!
