Today’s Sport Focuses: MLB
Christopher Sanchez – More Than 5.5 Strikeouts

The Phillies lefty is having the best season of his career and finds himself in the conversation for the NL Cy Young Award.
Sanchez has improved his numbers across the board from last season, including a bump in strikeouts.
An improved swinging-strike rate (+2.0%) and CSW% (+3.4%) both support his improved strikeout rate (+5.6%).
Today, Sanchez gets a matchup with the Cincinnati Reds, who have been a below average offense (77 wRC+) against left-handed pitching.
The Reds have also struck out at the 8th-highest rate (24.2%) in MLB against lefties.
Sanchez has recorded at least six strikeouts in 14 of 23 starts this season. His elite groundball rate and strong walk rate allow him to pitch deep into games, and he should go over 5.5 strikeouts.
Pete Alonso – More Than 1.5 Total Bases
This a great matchup for Pete Alonso against Carlos Carrasco.
Alonso has destroyed right-handed pitching this season with a .256 ISO and .392 wOBA. He has smashed 26 home runs and 29 doubles in 118 games this season, which are going to be his best path to beat this projection.
Carrasco has been torched by right-handed batters for a .342 ISO and .421 wOBA. Righties have squared him up for an alarmingly high 13.2% barrel rate.
The righty throws strikes (7.1% walk rate) and doesn’t miss many bats (16.2% strikeout rate), which should give the Polar Bear multiple chances to collect an extra-base hit.
