Dalton Schultz Receiving Yards Ladder
Schultz has seen somewhat of a limited role in the Houston Texans offense, which was expected this season. He owns 23 receptions for 223 yards on 39 targets through 8 games. He’s also coming off of his best game of the season, posting 52 yards against the Indianapolis Colts.
Schultz is expected to see his role grow this week. Nico Collins is still out with a hamstring injury, and Stefon Diggs tore his ACL last week. The Texans are down to Tank Dell at receiver, and their star tight end should see more opportunities than other backups, including Xavier Hutchinson and John Metchie.
We saw Schultz find success in a bigger role for Houston last season. He posted 59 receptions for 635 yards and 5 touchdowns on 84 targets across 15 games. He also saw 10+ targets in a trio of games, posting a season-high 130 yards against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.
Schultz gets a tough matchup against the New York Jets, who feature a strong pass defense. They’re only allowing 161.1 passing yards per game and 6.4 yards per attempt in 2024. The Jets are giving up 42.3 yards per game to tight ends, though.
The Texans are currently small underdogs in this game. I don’t believe they have the talent on the outside to beat this pass defense, meaning Schultz could see a plethora of targets. Although it isn’t a great matchup, it’s the path of least resistance.
This feels like a game where Schultz could see 8-10 targets if Houston is forced to throw. If that’s the case, we’re getting far too low of a receiving total.
What to bet: Dalton Schultz 40+ receiving yards through 100+ receiving yards
