I have used the Barstool Sportsbook for some time, and I primarily bet with them through their Mobile iOS app. The layout is solid with nice graphics while also being simple to use. It’s also pretty fast too, which is nice. Their new-user promotions are okay—not very enticing compared to other sites. The lines, availability of bets, and customer service is all pretty average. However, I would say the defining feature of it (especially the reason why people bet with it instead of other sites that might have better UI or lines) is that personalities that I follow and like are betting and you can with them. This makes the experience more social and interactive for the bettor. For example, I use it to bet on hockey because I enjoy Barstool’s Spittin Chiclets podcast. The personalities and culture of the app are definitely what sets it apart from other sites.

Barstool is one of my favorite sportsbooks. I really enjoy the package bets they put together which are called “Odds Boost” and “Bet With.” They adjust the line to make it in your favor and show you which of the professionals from their site enjoy the bet. They have extra bonuses where you can win clothing, which I think is very fun and unique. I have won a sweatshirt and a hat, which are great. It gives you an additional incentive to make the bet. So not only do you win the swag, but you also win the bet you place so it’s a great way to entice you to make the bet.

The Matchup

Both Barstool Sportsbook and Caesars Sportsbook are viable contenders in the U.S. sports betting landscape. Both online sportsbooks are available in more than ten states, and bettors can expect both to continue expanding into more markets.

Barstool and Caesars each offer an almost exhaustive menu of sports and ways to bet. If there’s a sport you with to bet, you’ll likely find it at either Barstool or Caesars.

Barstool’s mobile app gets high regards from Apple iOS reviewers, and earns the checkmark in that category.

Caesars Sportsbook’s welcome bonus varies by state, but in most states new players can get a 100% deposit match up to $1,500. Barstool Sportsbook’s $1,000 risk-free bet isn’t quite as generous.

Barstool Sportsbook Review

Barstool Sportsbook launched on September 18, 2020, as a mobile betting application in Pennsylvania. The launch saw the company partner with Penn National Gaming, which purchased a 36% stake in the Barstool company for sports betting services.

Barstool Sports own barstool Sportbook. It was founded in 2003 by current President David Portnoy in Milton, MA, and New York, NY is its base. The company has two primary investors, Penn National Gaming and The Chernin Group.

Penn National paid $163 million for 40 years of exclusive gaming rights, including sports wagering and online casino platforms. Under the agreement, the company can increase its ownership stake to 50% in three years with an option to take over 100% ownership. In 2021, Barstool launched gaming operations in Michigan, Illinois, Indiana, Colorado, Virginia, New Jersey, Tennessee, and Arizona.

Since 2016, the CEO of Barstool Sports has been Erika Nardini. She holds a BS in Sociology and Psychology from Colby College. She also is involved in board and advisory roles in Word Wrestling Entertainment, the Premier Lacrosse League, in/PACT, and Torchy’s Tacos.

Under her leadership, the company went from being in a small regional market to becoming a leading national multimedia company with more than 180 employees and a valuation of over $100 million.

Barstool Sportsbook reached a Pennsylvania market share of 7.2% in July 2021, with $13.6 million in wagers placed during the month. In November 2021, they performed better than some of the major sportsbooks in Pennsylvania, handling more than $75 million in wagers with total revenue of $8.3 million.

What Sets Barstool Sportsbook Apart?

Barstool is considered by most to be an “edgy” company. What started as a simple blog for sports in Boston, MA rapidly gained nationwide notoriety that continues to grow. There are certain areas, though, where Barstool stands out.

Sign-Up Bonuses

Barstool Sportsbook stands out with a two-part bonus for new customers. First, you’ll get a $10 bonus for registering and a risk-free bet of up to $1,000. So if you lose the first bet, they give your money back so you can try again.

New and current players can receive ongoing bonus offers through promo codes each week in which players can get deals on exclusive merchandise or have the option to enhance odds on specific games. All you need to do is click on the Promotions section mobile app to see which promotions are available, as they change often.

Top-Notch Customer Service

If you ever have any problems with the Barstool Sportsbook app, help is close by with a live chat option that automatically pops up if you go to the Technical Support page. You can also ask for a callback so a representative can help solve your issue by telephone, or you can choose to receive support by email.

You can also ask questions on their social media channels on Facebook, Instagram, and Twitter, as they are always active on these platforms. Additionally, Penn National Gaming has a stellar record in customer service and has applied its model to Barstool Sportbook. Finally, don’t forget to check the FAQ section, which is where you should first look if you run into any problems.

Smooth-Running, Innovative Barstool Sportsbook Mobile App

Barstool Sportsbook has one of the best mobile apps on the market, with a simple user interface that puts all the tools you’ll need on the same home screen. As a result, you can quickly find the sport you’re looking for and switch smoothly between activities.

The app can even be customized to your preferences and gives you a $5 bonus cash credit. Some reviewers feel that the app looks outdated, but it’s one of the best and fastest sportsbook apps available in terms of functionality.

Management Profiles

Barstool Sports founder and President Dave Portnoy founded Barstool Sports in 2003. Being an avid sports fan and former high school athlete, he had dreams of pursuing a baseball career, but that ended when he sustained a shoulder injury. He then received a degree in education from the University of Michigan.

Shortly after, he decided to start a local newspaper covering everything in the betting world, even handing out free copies to get exposure for his publication. They launched the website in December of 2003 and, in 2007, redesigned the website and started expanding into other major cities.

Portnoy also took advantage of social media platforms, which he used to popularize the brand even further. In January 2020, Chernin sold the majority of their stake in Barstool to Penn National Gaming, which gave them a 50% ownership stake. Then in September 2020, he launched the Barstool Sportsbook app.

Erika Nardini joined Barstool Sports in 2016, becoming the company’s first CEO. She has executive experience in the media industry. Since her hiring, the company has had exponential growth, now with over 180 employees, valued at over $100 million.

In addition, she was named the most controversial woman in sports by the New York Post and one of the most powerful women in sports by Forbes and AdWeek. She also regularly appears as an expert on the TV shows FOX Business Mornings and Mad Money.

Jay Snowden is the CEO and President of Penn National. As such, and with Penn National’s position as owner, he is also involved in the company’s operations. In October 2011, he joined Penn National Gaming as Senior Vice President-Regional Operations.

The company promoted Snowden to Chief Operating Officer in January 2014. He was appointed President and Chief Operating Officer in March 2017. This included the successful integration of Pinnacle Entertainment and the margin improvement plan. It nearly doubled the size of Penn National’s overall revenue. Snowden was elected President and CEO in January 2020.
