Nets vs Hornets Predictions – Wednesday, October 22
It’s opening night in Charlotte, and we’ve got two teams living in different worlds.
The Hornets are chasing proof that health and cohesion can finally translate to wins, while the Nets are embracing uncertainty — a young roster loaded with upside but short on structure.
Charlotte opens as the 4.5-point favorite, and on paper, that feels about right. Let’s dig in.

Hornets Props, Predictions, and Preview
Charlotte’s roster overhaul has turned a corner — and it finally makes sense. The Hornets open 2025-26 with LaMelo Ball healthy and surrounded by a balanced lineup that blends size, defense, and youth in a way this franchise hasn’t had in years.
Brandon Miller shifts full-time to shooting guard, where his length and off-ball shooting open driving lanes for Ball.
Kon Knueppel, last year’s lottery pick, brings high-IQ spacing and underrated playmaking at the small-forward spot — a modern connector piece who can move the ball or punish lazy close-outs. The former Duke star is a nice asset for corner three-point shooting.
Up front, Miles Bridges slides naturally into the four, giving Charlotte a physical scorer who can rebound and switch defensively, while Moussa Diabate earns the start at center after an impressive preseason full of energy plays and vertical rim protection.
The Hornets’ depth has quietly improved, too. Tre Mann and Collin Sexton give Clifford legitimate second-unit scoring punch, while Grant Williams provides spacing and toughness off the bench once he’s fully cleared from a minor camp injury.
Rookie Tidjane Salaun flashed promise in camp as an athletic forward who can guard multiple spots and run in transition.
Expect heavy drive-and-kick action, more pace, and a noticeable uptick in three-point volume compared to last season’s disjointed half-court play.
Nets Props, Predictions, and Preview
Forget the old-school Nets of veterans and role players — this year’s group is built around long limbs and potential. Rookie guard Egor Demin gets the keys at point, joined by Cam Thomas, Terance Mann, Michael Porter Jr., and Nic Claxton. It’s a lineup with length, shooting, and some mystery.
Thomas remains the offensive wild card — an elite microwave scorer who can drop 25 points when he’s feeling it, or disappear when shots don’t fall. It’ll certainly be interesting to track usage rates when Thomas and Porter Jr. share the court, as both wings have never seen a shot they didn’t like.
Porter Jr. brings spacing and secondary shot-creation after arriving in the offseason; he’s arguably Brooklyn’s most consistent two-way option. Mann, acquired to bring defensive toughness, gives the Nets another versatile wing to switch screens and attack closeouts.
Inside, Claxton anchors everything. His mobility and rim protection are elite, and Brooklyn’s best shot at covering this number comes from his ability to neutralize Charlotte’s interior looks. Claxton’s rebounding and help defense remain the heartbeat of a young roster still figuring out rotations.
If you can find Claxton rebound props, I like that look, as Charlotte got carved up in the paint last season.
Nets vs Hornets Props and Picks Today
There are plenty of Nets vs Hornets player props to choose from on Underdog for Wednesday night’s slate of games. Let’s dive into the Hornets vs Nets predictions!
Cam Thomas Player Props – Higher Than 24.5 Points
It seems like a large number, but his only competition for usage and shots is the newly acquired Porter Jr from Denver. This man had a 33% usage rate in 2024. Thomas is probably my favorite play in terms of Nets vs Hornets best bets tonight.
Branon Miller Player Props – Higher than 22.5 Points + Assists
Miller took a step forward last season, and that has carried over to the preseason. Most impressively? His willingness and ability to pass the ball. Miller could clear this number on points alone, but I like having an extra out with assists. Brooklyn played slowly last year, but they ranked just 20th in defensive efficiency.
