Hawks Predictions and Preview
Atlanta opens with a roster that expects Trae Young to run the offense and the supporting cast to supply shooting and spacing.
Preseason action showed Young taking on a heavy playmaking load while the Hawks tested different lineups around him; one consistent takeaway was that Trae will still dictate pace and usage even as Atlanta tries to tighten defense.
Availability looks largely positive for the Hawks; the team released a late injury report naming a couple of players as game-time decisions but otherwise projecting health for core pieces.
With Atlanta at home, the Hawks will try to push the pace, hunt downhill drives off Trae’s playmaking, and run a lot of pick-and-rolls to challenge Toronto’s interior presence.
If Atlanta wins the turnover battle and forces contested catch-and-shoot attempts from the Raptors’ perimeter wings, the margin could grow quickly.
Raptors Predictions and Preview
Toronto walks into opening night in a state of partial rebuild and managed expectation. The roster leans on Scottie Barnes as the central playmaker while Jakob Poeltl and RJ Barrett handle much of the two-way grind.
The Raptors used training camp and preseason to probe rotations and get younger players meaningful minutes — a useful experiment, but one that leaves their early chemistry a question mark.
The team’s camp scrimmages and preseason show some promising flashes, especially in how certain wings and rookies handled creation and spacing in live drills.
Injury and availability will shape Toronto’s game plan. Two young wings — Ja’Kobe Walter and Collin Murray-Boyles — are out for the opener, and Jakob Poeltl was listed as a game-time decision on the official injury report (day-to-day).
That complicates minute distribution and the team’s ability to finish around the rim. If Poeltl is limited, Toronto will have to rely on backups for rim protection and offensive screens, which shifts more onus to Barnes and the perimeter creators.
Hawks vs Raptors Props and Picks Today
There are plenty of Toronto vs Atlanta player props to choose from on Underdog for Wednesday night’s slate of games. Let’s dive into the Hawks vs Raptors predictions!
RJ Barrett Player Props – Higher Than 17.5 Points
Ever since the Olympics last summer, Barrett has looked like a different player. I think Barnes will take on more of a distributor role, thanks to the addition of Brandon Ingram.
Atlanta has played at a high tempo with minimal defensive resistance since Young has been running the show.
Kristaps Porzingis Player Props – Higher Than 17.5 Points
I like Porznigis in his Atlanta debut. Most importantly, we know he’s healthy. He could have a field day stretching out Poeltl (if he plays), as he is more of a stationary big man.
