All the best sportsbooks are available in Arizona. They each have tons of features and great new customer promotions, along with many ongoing promotions.

Every sportsbook has something that sets it apart from the competition, and they often lack something that we wish they had. In the section below, we will take a look at the five top sportsbooks in Arizona (in no particular order) and review each of them so you can find out which is the right one for you.

BetRivers Arizona

BetRivers Arizona offers users a wide variety of betting options, an intuitive app design, and a solid welcome bonus. BetRivers is owned by Rush Street Interactive (RSI), a Chicago-based casino company that owns and operates the BetRivers online sportsbook along with retail casinos throughout the country.

In Arizona, BetRivers has partnered with the Arizona Rattlers, an Indoor Football League (IFL) team that plays in the same arena as the Phoenix Suns (NBA) and Phoenix Mercury (WNBA).

The current BetRivers new customer promotion offers new users up to $100 as a bonus bet if their first wager comes up short. This is a great way to check out the sportsbook knowing that your first bet is covered.

The $100 bonus bet is a bit below the competition, but it’s a decent offer. The new customer offer is a pro, but are there any cons to BetRivers? The next section will go over both the advantages and disadvantages of BetRivers.

Pros

  • Solid new customer promotion
  • Profit boost and odds boost promotions available every day
  • Hundreds of wagers on every major sporting event
  • Available in over a dozen states
  • More player prop options than the competition
  • Tons of same-game parlay wagering opportunities on all major sports
  • Lesser-known sports have better odds than other sportsbooks

Cons

  • Live betting loads slower than other sportsbooks and has wider bet spreads
  • New customer promotion only offers value if your first bet loses
  • No retail sportsbook in Arizona for cash deposits and withdrawals

FanDuel Sportsbook Arizona

New Players Only, Must be 21+. Gambling Problem? Call 1-800-GAMBLER. Must be Present in Legal State. Full T&Cs Apply. Please Play Responsibly. See more…

FanDuel Sportsbook Arizona has extremely competitive betting lines, a full menu of pro and college sports, and daily odds boosts are also available for frequent sports bettors. FanDuel operates in the Grand Canyon State in a licensing partnership with the Phoenix Suns.

New members of FanDuel Sportsbook can receive a unique welcome bonus. This is called the “Bet $5 Get $300 in Bonus Bets If Your Bet Wins“ bonus. As the name suggests, it allows new players to receive $300 in bonus bet credits by placing (and winning) a first wager of just $5.

Simply click the “CLAIM OFFER” tab on this guide page, create an account with FanDuel Sportsbook, make your first deposit, and place a wager on the sporting event of your choice.

FanDuel will then credit you with $300 in bonus bets if that wager wins. While FanDuel is a great sportsbook, it does have a few drawbacks, which we will cover below.

Pros

  • Partnered with one of the most popular sports teams in the state
  • Retail sportsbook available for in-person cash deposits and wagering
  • Every major sports league in the world has available wagering opportunities on FanDuel
  • All the popular bet types are on FanDuel, including same-game parlay wagers on every major US sporting event
  • A dozen banking options are offered, including Venmo and Apple Pay
  • Available in over two dozen states
  • App is highly rated on both the Apple App and Google Play stores
  • Cons

  • Still no rewards program after all these years
  • Prices are competitive but other sportsbooks often have better odds
  • Player prop markets are more limited than the competition
  • BetMGM Sportsbook Arizona

Gambling problem? Call 1-800-GAMBLER (Available in the US). Call 877-8-HOPENY or text HOPENY (467369) (NY), Call 1-800-327-5050 (MA), 1-800-NEXT-STEP (AZ), 1-800-BETS-OFF (IA), 1-800-981-0023 (PR). 21+ only. Please Gamble Responsibly. See BetMGM.com for Terms. First Bet Offer for new customers only (if applicable). Subject to eligibility requirements. Bonus bets are non-withdrawable. BetMGM Sportsbook, the self-proclaimed King of Sportsbooks, is a popular choice among residents and visitors alike. BetMGM has partnered with the Arizona Cardinals, the NFL team that is the King of Arizona sports teams. Their partnership includes a large retail sportsbook at the team’s stadium.

Like other online sportsbooks, BetMGM provides an impressive variety of betting markets on major sports and smaller niche sports including darts, lacrosse, and badminton. BetMGM also offers a unique welcome bonus that allows new members to quickly boost their bankroll.

BetMGM is a solid all-around online sportsbook. It has a very simplistic design that beginner bettors will find extremely easy to navigate. Arizona bettors looking for a modern, user-friendly wagering platform offering a fantastic welcome bonus will enjoy what BetMGM has to offer. That said, it does have a few negatives, which we will list below.

    Pros

  • Partnered with the most popular sports team in the state
  • Wide array of betting options on sports leagues worldwide
  • Available in over 20 states
  • Generous new customer promotion
  • Lucrative ongoing promotions, including odds boosts
  • Easy-to-use app and website
  • Industry-leading rewards program
  • Cons

  • Not as many live betting options as other sportsbooks
  • Prices often lag behind the competition, particularly for futures bets
  • New customer offer only adds value if your first bet loses
  • DraftKings Sportsbook Arizona

DraftKings Sportsbook is perhaps the most well-known sports betting operator in the United States. Today, it operates in more than 20 states around the country, including Arizona, where it has partnered with the TPC Scottsdale golf course, home of the famous Waste Management Open PGA Tour event.

DraftKings excels in just about every category, with a huge odds selection, solid design, and many promotions for new and existing members.

DraftKings offers a generous welcome promo for Arizona players in the form of a “Bet $5 Get $200 in Bonus Bets Instantly” offer. That puts $200 in bonus bets into your account for making a $5 minimum bet with your first wager at DraftKings Sportsbook.

While the new customer offer is definitely a plus, DraftKings does have a few minuses, which we will discuss below.

    Pros

  • Bet-get promotion offers value for all new customers, not just those who win or lose their first bet
  • Available in more states than any other sportsbook
  • Wide selection of ongoing promotions, including odds boosts and profit boosts
  • Every sport imaginable available for wagering
  • More player prop bets than the competition
  • Easy to use app, featuring face ID login option
  • Tons of banking options, including PayPal and Venmo
  • Cons

  • Not much separates it from the competition; similar layout to other sportsbooks
  • Prices for lesser-known sports not as good as other sportsbooks
  • Caesars Sportsbook Arizona

Gambling problem? Call 1-800-GAMBLER (Available in the US) Call 877-8-HOPENY or text HOPENY (467369) (NY) Call 1-800-327-5050 (MA), 1-800-NEXT-STEP (AZ), 1-800-BETS-OFF (IA). 21+ only. Caesars Sportsbook has been a popular choice among bettors in the state since it launched in 2021. Caesars offers a variety of cool features, including a variety of live betting options, many banking options, and odds on sports around the world.

What separates Caesars from the competition is its loyalty program. Caesars Rewards is the best loyalty program in the industry and rewards its users with free hotel stays, bet credits, branded swag, and much more.

New users can get a solid promotional offer at Caesars Sportsbook. Each of your first 10 bets can have the winnings doubled, just for signing up for an account and wagering $1 or more.

Be sure to use the promo code PROPSCOM1000 when signing up to get this great offer. We will go into more detail on this solid promotion later in the review, but for now we are definitely adding it to the Pros part of the Pros and Cons section below.

    Pros

    • Caesars Rewards is the best loyalty program in the industry
    • New customer promotion offers ongoing value for the first 10 wagers
    • Available in most states with legal online sports wagering
    • Partnered with Arizona Diamondbacks, a popular AZ sports team
    • Retail sportsbook located at the Diamondbacks’ stadium

    • More limited betting menu than the competition, particularly among player prop wagers
    • Prices can be less competitive than other sportsbooks
    • Looks and feels similar to other sportsbooks

State law allows for up to 20 legal online sportsbooks to operate in the state. Each sportsbook is required to partner with either one of the state’s professional sports teams, an existing sports venue, or one of the state’s federally recognized tribes.

Currently, 14 sportsbooks operate in Arizona. Sportsbooks in the state are regulated by the Arizona Department of Gaming, including those that have partnered with tribes.

    Best Arizona Sportsbook promotions

Arizona sportsbook promotions and bonus offers vary by operator. Let’s take a look at some of the most common bonus types you’ll see on Arizona sports betting apps:

    Bet-Get Bonuses

A Bet-Get Bonus awards you with bonus betting credits after you place a bet of a certain minimum amount. For instance, DraftKings Sportsbook frequently offers new bettors a “Bet $5 Get $200” promo.

For these offers, after signing up for a new DraftKings account, making a minimum deposit of $5, and placing a bet of at least $5, you automatically receive $200 in bet credits. Keep in mind that when you wager with bonus bets, you retain any winnings from the bet but not the original bonus bet stake.

    First Bet Insurance

The first bet insurance bonus type refunds your first bet if the wager loses, up to a certain amount. For instance, at BetRivers, your first bet is covered if it loses, up to $100.

At BetMGM, the first bet insurance is a healthy $1,500, so you can start out with a big wager knowing that you get a full refund if it loses. Keep in mind that the rebate comes in the form of bonus bet site credit, and you can only profit from those credits if you place another bet and win.

    Deposit Match Bonus

A deposit match bonus matches a certain percentage of your first deposit with bonus bets. For example, in the past DraftKings offered a 20% deposit match up to $1,000.

That means you needed to deposit $5,000 to get the full $1,000 in bonus credits. One thing about deposit match bonuses is that they often have onerous terms and conditions.

Notably, the DraftKings bonus came with a ridiculous 25x playthrough requirement, meaning you had to deposit $5,000 and bet $75,000 to claim the full $1,000.

Thankfully, they moved on from that playthrough requirement, but it’s a good reminder to always read the fine print before making a deposit.

How to identify the best sportsbook bonuses in Arizona

As you can see in the above sections, the best sportsbook bonuses in Arizona can vary significantly. The biggest number isn’t always the best value.

What seems like a good offer might end up being the worst one available because of the terms and conditions. That’s why we always recommend reading the fine print before making a deposit.

So what should you look for while reading the terms and conditions? We recommend checking out the wagering requirements, minimum odds, expiration dates, and whether the bonus amount is included in any winnings.

We include a lot of this information in our review pages, but it’s still worth double-checking with the sportsbook directly. Here are three examples of current welcome offers along with some key terms and conditions.

Caesars Sportsbook Bet $1, Double Your Winnings Your Next 20 Wagers

This bonus offer is a new one that we haven’t seen before. It provides ongoing value rather than a one-time deal. It is a good promotion for those who plan on making several bets at once rather than just going for one or two when starting out.

However, the promotion only applies to winning bets, and winning 10 bets in a row is very difficult, as any gambler will tell you.

How it works – Sign up for an account using the promo code PROPSCOM1000 and make a deposit of $10 or more. Your first 20 bets automatically get paid out double if they win. This is your first 20 bets, not your first 20 winning bets, so plan accordingly.

Who it’s for – This promotion is great for those who have a plan and know which wagers they want to make at the time of registration. The minimum odds are -10000, so you can take a prohibitive favorite and double your payout. But if you’re new and just want to bet on a game or two, you might want to check out a different sportsbook promotion.

How to claim itCaesars Sportsbook makes it easy to sign up for an account. It only takes a few minutes to get up and running. Remember to use promo code PROPSCOM1000 when prompted to get this great offer.

FanDuel Bet $5, Get $300 in Bonus Bets if Your Bet Wins

New Players Only, Must be 21+. Gambling Problem? Call 1-800-GAMBLER. Must be Present in Legal State. Full T&Cs Apply. Please Play Responsibly. See more…

This classic bet-get offer is pretty good. What makes it very good is the fact that there are no minimum odds to qualify, so you can take the heavy favorite to boost your odds of winning. This is recommended because it would be a bummer to not qualify for $150 in bonus bets.

How it works – Sign up for an account. No promo code is needed for this offer. Make a deposit of $5 or more and find a wager you think will win. Bet $5 or more on any offering, and if it wins you immediately get $300 in bonus bets added to your account. Simple as that.

Who it’s for – This promotion is for everyone. Even if you don’t know very much about sports betting, it only costs $5 to get started. If your first bet wins, you get the winnings plus $300 in bonus bets. What a great way to start out on FanDuel!

How to claim it – It is very easy to sign up for an account at FanDuel Sportsbook. No promo code is needed to claim this offer. With a dozen banking options available, your account will be created and funded in just minutes. After making a deposit, just find a bet you like and wager $5 or more. If it wins, you get $300 in bonus bets. Sign up today!

BetMGM Sportsbook Get Up to $1,500 back in bonus bets if you don’t win

This first bet promotion is a solid offer that ensures your first wager at BetMGM will be covered win or lose. This is a common new customer offer, and it is also one of our favorite types of promotions.

How it works – After signing up for an account, you find a wager you want to make. If your first wager wins, you’re off and running and the promotion is no longer applicable. If your first wager loses, the entire amount, up to $1,500, is refunded back to your account in the form of bet credits.

The bet credits must be used within 7 days. All winnings from bet credits are immediately withdrawable but the original credit amount is not eligible for withdrawal.

Who it’s for – This is a solid promotion that is for those with an appetite for larger wagers. It might be worth taking a risk because if you win your first bet, you will have a lot more money in your account. If you lose, you’re back to where you started and can continue on your betting journey.

How to claim it – After signing up for an account at BetMGM Sportsbook and making a deposit, you’re ready to make a wager. No promo code is needed for this offer.

Find a bet you want to make and pull the trigger. If it doesn’t win, you can get your entire stake back, up to $1,500. No strings attached. Sign up today!

Sports betting has been legal in Arizona since 2021. Both retail and online sportsbooks are allowed in the state, and the fair regulatory structure and low tax rate have led to a competitive market.

The sections below will cover all the major details of how sports betting in Arizona is structured and regulated.

    Arizona sports betting age requirement

Like most states, under Arizona law the minimum age to sign up for a sportsbook account or visit a retail sportsbook is 21. This applies to both tribal sportsbooks and sportsbooks located at sports venues in the state.

    Residency requirements for online betting

Anyone can sign up for an account at an Arizona sportsbook. However, in order to deposit and wager you must physically be in the state of Arizona.

This is confirmed by the geolocation feature on your phone that you have to approve when signing up for a sportsbook app. If you’re using a laptop, you need to download and install geotracking software. VPNs don’t work.

While you need to be in Arizona, you don’t need to have an Arizona address to wager in the state. This is good news for the millions of visitors that head to the state every year.

You can use the same sportsbook account that you use in your home state as long as it’s also licensed to operate in Arizona.

Who regulates sports betting in Arizona?

Under state law, sports betting is regulated by the Arizona Department of Gaming (ADG). The agency also has jurisdiction over sports betting at tribal casinos as agreed to in the Amended Tribal-State Gaming Compact.

All sportsbooks must apply for a license and comply with the rules and regulations laid out by the ADG before they are allowed to operate in the state.

History of sports betting in Arizona

There hasn’t been a long history of sports betting in Arizona. The state has 22 federally recognized Indian tribes. Currently, 16 of those tribes operate one or more casinos on their land.

Tribes have been able to operate casinos in the state since 1993, and the revenue generated from casino gaming pays for many important tribal programs. This is relevant to sports betting because the tribes previously had a monopoly on gaming in the state.

State legislators introduced legislation to legalize sports betting back in 2020, less than two years after PASPA was repealed and sports betting became legal.

Sports betting finally came to the state in 2021, and now both the sportsbooks and tribes are thriving. The sections below cover how we got here and how the regulations work in Arizona.

Timeline of sports betting in Arizona

February 2020 – The process of legalizing sports betting in Arizona begins in earnest, as two bills to bring sportsbooks to Arizona are introduced in the legislature. Neither of them are enacted, and sports betting is tabled for the year

March 2021 – Legislators pass HB2772, a bill to legalize sports betting in the state. Sports betting is very close to becoming a reality in AZ.

April 2021Governor Doug Ducey signs HB2772 into law, which legalizes sports betting, DFS, and keno in the state. It also allows for additional tribal casinos to open up and for all tribes to be allowed to add additional slot machines to their existing casino floors.

June 2021 – The state regulatory machine quickly churned out proposed rules and regulators announced a September launch. The tribal compact was approved in May so everything was coming into place.

September 9, 2021 – Sports betting became fully legal in Arizona. Six sportsbooks launched on Day 1 and bettors across the state finally had access to legal, regulated sports betting.

2022 to Present – Sports betting has thrived in Arizona since launching in 2021. Several brands have come and gone but the market continues to attract a great deal of interest and wagers. Currently, 14 mobile sportsbooks are operating in the state and about two dozen retail sportsbooks are open and accepting wagers.

How does Arizona Fund and Manage Its Sports Betting Market?

One reason why sports betting has been so successful in Arizona is the low tax rate placed on sportsbook revenue and rules that encourage innovation and competition.

The sections below go over the tax rates, where the revenue goes, and how much Arizonans wager on sports (hint: a lot).

    Taxation and Licensing Structure

The following sections break down the tax and licensing structure of legal sports betting in Arizona.

    Tax Breakdown

Sportsbooks are taxed by the state at 8 percent on in-person bets and 10 percent on mobile wagers. This is one of the lowest tax rates in the country and a big reason why sportsbooks love doing business in Arizona.

Bettors must pay state and federal income tax on their winnings. Profits from gambling are taxed as ordinary income. Conversely, gambling losses can be claimed as a tax deduction.

    Licensing Fees

Sportsbooks in Arizona pay an initial licensing fee of $850,000 when applying for a license and a yearly fee of $150,000 to renew their license. The Arizona Department of Gaming issues sportsbook licenses and collects all licensing fees.

Where does the Tax Money Go?

Tax revenue from sports betting pays for important government programs. Specifically, the legislature decided to split up the revenue into separate allocations designated for state education, tourism, emergency services, and wildlife agency budgets.

In January 2025, which included much of the NFL postseason and many other sports, the state collected $5.31 million in privilege fees. In 2024, a whopping $42 million in “privilege fees” was collected from sportsbooks.

Privilege fees are regulatory-speak for taxes that sportsbooks pay the state. Since sports betting was legalized in September 2021, $117.2 million in taxes has been collected by the ADG to pay for initiatives that benefit all Arizonans.

    Key Market Stats

    Arizona mobile betting apps

The Arizona mobile betting apps available in the state vary in ease of use and overall user satisfaction. As you can see in the table below, the biggest sportsbooks have highly rated apps, while the lesser-known ones tend to have less satisfied users.

Sportsbook NameiOS App RatingAndroid App Rating
    Bally Bet4.64.4

So what separates the best sportsbook apps from those that aren’t quite up to par? Ease of use is the biggest factor. If you look at the top apps like FanDuel, Caesars, and BetMGM, they all have a similar layout.

Ads for featured promotions are prominently displayed on the home page, and the promoted wagers (usually parlays) are also on the front page right when you log in.

When you scroll down you will see the most popular sport of the day, which is always NFL in the fall but changes with the other seasons. The top and bottom of the screen show additional features like All Sports, My Bets, Live Now, and the user account page.

How do I sign up and bet in Arizona?

It only takes a few minutes to sign up and bet in Arizona. All the sportsbooks in the state are licensed and regulated by the ADG, so the sign-up process is similar and straightforward. Here are the steps needed to register for a sportsbook in Arizona.

    1. Choose a sportsbook. There are currently 14 different sportsbooks operating in Arizona, so you have plenty of options. We recommend trying a few out to see which one fits what you’re looking for, but if you’re just starting out we suggest going with one of the biggest operators like FanDuel, DraftKings, or BetMGM.
    2. Download the sportsbook app from the Apple App Store or the Google Play Store. You can also sign up for an account on the sportsbook website, but it is usually easier to sign up using the app.
    3. Enter the required information. Every sportsbook needs some information from you in order to set up an account. This usually includes your name, address, phone number, email address, and sometimes the last 4 digits of your SSN. They need this information to verify your identity and it is required by state law. All information is kept confidential and secure.
    4. Enter a promo code if required. Some sportsbooks use promo codes to ensure you get the right new customer offer. Others use links that take you to the right landing page. Props.com has all the links and promo codes you need to get the best new customer promotions available.
    5. Add login details. Each sportsbook does it differently, but all of them require you to have login credentials. Some prefer a username while others just use your email address, but be sure to create a strong password that isn’t used on any other site to ensure your login information is secure.
    6. Agree to the Terms and Conditions and confirm login information. This is usually the last step of the signup process to confirm your email address and/or phone number is accurate and you are who you say you are.
    7. Make a deposit. Sportsbooks offer several different deposit options, including Venmo, Apple Pay, and PayPal. Remember that not every deposit option is available as a withdrawal option.
    8. Find a wager you want to make. Now that your account is created and funded, you can start wagering. There are hundreds of options to choose from, so chances are you can find a bet you want to make. If you can’t decide, Props.com has many player prop suggestions posted on our site every day. Try one out!
    9. Manage your account. After making your first wager, you might have some additional steps needed to take advantage of your new customer promotion. If that is the case, be sure to check out your account, including your balance. Remember that bet credits sometimes have wagering requirements so be sure to read the terms and conditions before using your bonuses.
    10. Withdraw your balance. If you’re ready for a break or picked a big winner and want to withdraw your funds, regulated sportsbooks make it easy to do so. We recommend using the same banking method you used to make a deposit, but if that isn’t an option e-wallets like PayPal are the fastest way to withdraw your funds.

    retail sportsbooks in Arizona

There are currently 24 retail sportsbooks in Arizona. While a majority of the retail sportsbooks are affiliated with an online sportsbook brand, a few are independent.

For example, We-Ko-Pa Casino has a retail sportsbook, but the Fort McDowell Yavapai Nation, which owns the casino, does not have a licensing partnership with an online sportsbook. They run their own sportsbook.

Retail sportsbooks that are affiliated with an online brand offer most of the same bets that are listed on the app, plus you can make deposits and withdrawals to your online account at the casino cage in case you’re more of a cash person.

Additionally, the retail sportsbooks have food and drinks along with dozens of huge TVs playing all the biggest sporting events. They are a lot of fun to check out. Below is a table of all the retail sportsbooks in Arizona.

Which sports are available for betting in Arizona?

If you have a favorite sport, chances are you can wager on it in Arizona. All the big American sports leagues are available, with hundreds of bets offered on each high-profile matchup.

What’s even more interesting is the wide variety of lesser-known sports offered by every online sportsbook. You’re sure to find a fun new sport to wager on while checking out your new favorite sportsbook app.

All bet types and betting markets are approved by the ADG, so there are a few guidelines. No betting on awards shows or predetermined events like WWE or Love Island, for example.

That is true in many states. The biggest difference between Arizona and some other states is that player prop bets are banned for NCAA sports.

You can bet on how many points Kevin Durant will score for the Suns, but you can’t bet on how many points the University of Arizona point guard will score in his game.

    Major pro sports leagues

The most popular major pro sports leagues to wager on are unsurprisingly the big four sports leagues in the US. They also have the widest variety of bet types available for each matchup, including parlays, same-game parlays, moneylines, spread bets, totals (over/under), prop bets, player prop bets, and futures. Whatever bet type you’re looking for can be found at any Arizona sportsbook.

If you’re a fan of the local Arizona teams, you’re in luck because most of the major sportsbooks have Arizona-specific promotions. For example, FanDuel has partnered with the Phoenix Suns, so they regularly offer odds boosts on Suns-related parlay wagers.

Arizona sports teams haven’t had a lot of postseason success lately, but that doesn’t stop the wagers from coming in at an even higher-than-normal volume during the playoffs. Here are all US-based sports leagues available for wagering in Arizona.

    College sports in Arizona

College sports in Arizona are very popular. Sportsbooks offer wagers on every NCAA Division 1 college football matchup and most college basketball games. In Arizona, college basketball is more popular than college football.

No college team in the state is bigger than the University of Arizona men’s basketball team. March Madness is a huge deal in Arizona, and it attracts tons of action from bettors across the state.

Additional amateur sports like the Olympics are legal to wager on in Arizona, but the amateur betting menu is usually limited to NCAA sports. The only restriction for college wagering in the state is player prop bets. Game bets are on the table, but you can’t bet on the individual performance of a college player.

    Arizona sports teams

There are five Arizona sports teams that compete professionally in the state. Each team has its base of passionate fans, but of course, the top team is the Arizona Cardinals due to the overwhelming popularity of the NFL in both Arizona and the US.

The sections below cover all the biggest pro and college sports teams in Arizona, which are also the teams that attract the most wagers in the state.

    Professional teams in Arizona

Arizona Cardinals (NFL) No professional team in Arizona is more popular than the Cardinals. The team’s many fans pack State Farm Stadium during home games. The stadium has also hosted multiple Super Bowls, though unfortunately, the Cardinals have only appeared in one and have yet to win a championship. That may change sometime in the future, as the team looks ready to break out in 2025.

Phoenix Suns (NBA) The Suns are definitely the second-most popular sports team in Arizona. The Suns have been playing in Phoenix since 1968 and have had many successful seasons, including two trips to the NBA finals and a playoff appearance as recently as 2024. There is a FanDuel sportsbook located at the team’s arena where fans can watch and wager on NBA games and whatever else is being played that day.

Arizona Diamondbacks (MLB) The Diamondbacks play at Chase Field, which is also home to a large Caesars Sportsbook retail location. The team has done quite well recently and draws big crowds of baseball fans and those looking to watch their team play and also escape the summer heat by heading to the team’s indoor stadium.

Phoenix Mercury (WNBA) One of the WNBA’s original eight franchises, the Phoenix Mercury have called downtown Phoenix home since 1997. The Mercury have won three championships and have a core group of supportive fans who crowd the Footprint Center each summer to cheer on their team.

The team has partnered with Bally Bet, but that partnership does not include a retail location because they share their arena with the Suns.

Arizona Rattlers (IFL) The Arizona Rattlers are an Indoor Football League (IFL) franchise that also share the Footprint Center with the Suns and Mercury. That’s a busy arena! The IFL has 14 teams scattered across the country, including Prescott and Tucson in Arizona.

The Rattlers have partnered with BetRivers, but, similar to the Mercury, that partnership does not include a retail location because they also share their arena with the Suns.

    College teams in Arizona

University of Arizona Any list of college teams in Arizona starts with the state’s flagship university. The Arizona Wildcats are the most-followed college program in the state, and their basketball team is especially popular.

Coach Tommy Lloyd has rejuvenated the program, which now makes the Tournament every year and should compete for a title in 2025 and beyond. The Arizona football team is also very popular but has struggled recently, much to the frustration of their many fans.

Arizona State University Fun fact: 183,000 students were enrolled at ASU during the 2023-2024 academic year. That is not a typo. ASU has built one of the largest online learning platforms in the country and is now a hugely successful educational institution.

Over 56,000 students go to school in person at the Tempe campus, making ASU much larger than UA by attendance. Those students were thrilled to see their Sun Devils make a surprise run to the College Football Playoffs in 2024.

    Responsible gambling resources in Arizona

Arizona has a wide array of responsible gambling resources designed to help anyone who needs some help taking control of their gambling habits. Problem gambling affects people of all income levels and backgrounds, and the Arizona Division of Problem Gambling offers many ways to get help, which are outlined in the following sections.

    Self-exclusion programs

Self-exclusion is a voluntary program in which individuals can ban themselves from gambling platforms for a set amount of time. In Arizona, you can self-exclude from the state’s tribal casinos or every online sportsbook licensed in the state.

You can also choose to do both. The time period is one, five, or ten years and the ban can not be altered or rescinded.

The self-exclusion process in Arizona is simple, but it does require additional steps not needed in other states. The form you need to fill out must be notarized and submitted to the ADG’s main office, either by mail or delivered directly.

Finding a Notary Public in rural parts of the state is not easy, so this is a potentially frustrating step in the self-exclusion process. It is important, however, because sportsbook apps and tribal casinos are legally required to prohibit those on the self-exclusion list from accessing their services.

The ADG offers in-person self-exclusion services at their Phoenix headquarters and is available for additional support as needed.

For more information on the Arizona self-exclusion process, please refer to this Arizona self-exclusion FAQ provided by the ADG.

    Wager & time-limit tools

Sportsbooks offer their own wager and time limit tools in addition to the services offered by ADG. Most sportsbooks offer some or all of the following responsible gambling features on their apps.

    • Personalized stats breaking down how much money you have spent and won at a sportsbook
    • Alerts as a reminder of when you’ve spent a certain amount of time or money on a sportsbook app
    • Daily, weekly, or monthly deposit limits that set a maximum amount of money you can deposit at a given time
    • A time limit that restricts the number of minutes you can spend on a sportsbook app each day
    • Single wager, daily, weekly, or monthly wagering limits that limit the amount you can wager per bet or period of time
    • A cooling off period that prevents you from making any bets or depositing funds to your account
    • Additional problem gambling support resources easily accessible on the app

    Helplines & counseling

The ADG Division of Problem Gambling has many resources available for those who need assistance and counseling with problem gambling. The state’s official gambling helpline number is 1-800-NEXT-STEP and you can also text NEXTSTEP to 53342 for immediate help.

There is also a problem gambling chat option available on the website. Outside of Arizona, anyone in the US can call 1-800-GAMBLER to speak with someone confidentially about problem gambling.

The Division of Problem Gambling also offers free training services for businesses wishing to educate their employees on problem gambling and how to seek treatment.

There are also a few self-assessment quizzes on the website so you can understand your own gambling habits. Arizona has shown its commitment to responsible gambling by funding these important programs.

We encourage anyone to seek help early if they feel at risk of becoming a problem gambler. All services are confidential and available 24/7 in most cases.

    Conclusion

Legal sports betting has been a hit in Arizona since the day it launched in 2021. Residents and visitors alike have flocked to the state’s retail sportsbooks and downloaded the sportsbook apps in record numbers.

Betting volume continues to grow and millions of satisfied customers are placing wagers on their favorite teams each day. The low tax rate and fair regulatory structure has resulted in millions of dollars in tax revenue generated that pays for important government programs.

Additionally, the tribes that have opened up sportsbooks and partnered with online sportsbook brands have generated new revenue streams that help their members and support additional tribal operations.

Whichever sportsbook you choose, please remember to bet responsibly, legally, and within your budget. But most of all, have fun!
