One of fantasy football’s most prestigious tournaments is back for its sixth iteration. Underdog Fantasy’s Best Ball Mania VI is live for the 2025 NFL season.

There aren’t many fantasy football tournaments where you could turn a modest entry fee ($25) into life-changing money.

Best Ball Mania VI: 2025 Fantasy Football Details

What exactly is best ball, and how does it differ from traditional fantasy football? How many other contestants do you have to beat to win prizes in Best Ball Mania VI?

Let’s dive into some of the important information to know when signing up at Underdog for a crack at $15m in prizes for this year’s tournament.

BBMVI Tournament Structure

Best ball eliminates the traditional headaches of fantasy football management. There are no weekly lineup decisions, no waiver wire scrambles, no trade negotiations. Your optimal lineup is automatically selected each week based on your players’ actual performances.

The contest went live in May, and drafts will remain open until Week 1 of the NFL season kicks off (or until the contest is filled). Users can select a fast draft (with 20- or 30-second timers) or a slow draft, which features an 8-hour timer. Each draft features 12 total users and 18 total rounds.

The tournament follows a clear progression that mirrors the NFL season structure:

  • Regular season: Weeks 1 through 14
  • Playoffs Round 1: Week 15
  • Semifinals: Week 16
  • Best Ball Mania VI Finals: Week 17

This creates multiple checkpoints throughout the season where early draft decisions can impact your tournament life. Teams must survive the regular season gauntlet before advancing to the high-stakes playoff rounds.

After the best ball regular season (ending Week 14), two users from each original group of 12 will advance. Those users will be placed in new “pods” of 13 total users for Round 1 (Week 15) of the playoffs, and only one user will advance from that stage. The semifinals feature groups of 16 users, and only one fortunate survivor will make it to the Best Ball Mania VI final, which has a total of 539 seats.
